It took me twenty-three years to discover what it is that I want to be when I grow up. The idea of the future me had always been linked to writing, but on an April day in 2011 I was finally able to pinpoint what kind of writing. A long article about the minds behind The Wire, Sherlock, Lost, 30 Rock, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire — and so on, and so forth — served as a revelation. That was it. Television series was exactly the form I had been after, and screenwriting appeared as a glorious giant strawberry on the peach-coloured horizon.
Ever since, I have considered following TV shows as research for writing. I also consider watching films, reading, travel, and living altogether as research for writing. Water leaking from my eyes into my ears and months of heartbreak just might eventually become a single sentence in a poem, brilliant in its precision, and that will automatically make everything worthwhile. Right?
Somewhere along the way I started reviewing the films and series I have seen. That turned out to be a learning process of articulating opinions and finding the reasons for them. Taste and previous exposure are responsible for more ratings than you would think. A cult classic nowadays, The Rocky Horror Picture Show was withdrawn from the theatres after its first weekend; too few came to see a film they did not know how to watch.
While I am playing at being Roger Ebert, I might as well be systematic about it. Below there is the list of my filmic experiences, divided into ‘Features’, ‘Shorts’, and ‘Television Series’, with the titles given in the alphabetical order. Each work is linked to its review and IMDb profile.

This might be a life-long journey — me counting the tree-rings of Yggdrasil. Here goes another title.
